A former shooting lodge, standing in extensive grounds in the heart of Cairngorms National Park, Braemar Youth Hostel is an ideal base for exploring Royal Deeside, with its castles and distilleries.
Braemar Youth Hostel
Year-round activities include mountain biking, wildlife watching and golf. Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s Scottish home, is nearby (open between April-July). In winter Braemar’s a great location for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy skiing and boarding at Glenshee and The Lecht or walking in the Cairngorms.
The hostel is a mix of traditional interiors and modern furnishings, with many homely touches like big comfy sofas, a large self-catering kitchen and a spacious dining room. Private and family rooms are available - or you can rent the whole property for exclusive use with RentaHostel.
Dogs are welcome at Braemar, for a small fee, when guests book a private room. Please notify us in advance to ensure that a dog friendly room is allocated.
Braemar has a webcam in the village. It points at the snow gates next to the youth hostel on the A93 road going towards Glenshee. Guests can use this to see if they can get to the ski resort or just get here from the south - www.braemarscotland.co.uk. Tools are available for repairs and bike hire is offered in the nearby village.
