Faldarroch is a restored Victorian farm, near several Council cycle routes on B and unclassified roads in the rural North West Machars. There are ample barns for storing cycles and drying clothing.

Faldarroch is a very newly restored self catering property, managed by the National Trust for Scotland and is not far from Scotland's National Book Town. It is adjacent to the B7005, which is to be incorporated into the National Cycle Route and is surrounded by a network of small rural roads, some of which are listed by Dumfries and Galloway Council as cycle routes. It is a self catering property sleeping 5, with luxurious underfloor heating and is run on entirely eco friendly lines, with biomass boiler and two woodburning stoves, a working Victorian range, and solar panels. It is set in open countryside, without close neighbours and the farm buildings have been restored to provide ample storage for cycles and also a drying area for wet clothing. The Western Machars inspired Gavin Maxwell, author of "Ring of Bright Water" and also Ian Niall, who grew up just across the valley at Clutag farm and became one of the best-known writers on the countryside.
