Weston Farm is an organic working farm offering 4* Bed and Breakfast in the large, comfortable farmhouse. Three bedrooms (plus one adjoining). Other meals available.
Stretching across the Medwyn Valley between Newbigging and Dunsyre at the southernmost edge of the Pentland Hills, our 900 acre organic stock farm is off the beaten track but located within easy reach of all main road networks. Weston Farm is an ideal base for everyone, including families (we have two adjoining rooms and the usual baby and child equipment) we are well set up and equipped for cyclists, horse riders, walkers and birdwatchers (with washing and drying facilities and dog kennels available).
The farmhouse was originally a traditional longhouse, with various alterations and an additional storey built in 1792 (according to the inscription on the back wall). The farmyard looks like a farmyard should, with the house sitting on one side of a large square and hens roaming free (and rather wild). Four peacocks might trumpet your arrival from the barn roof and owls hoot at night but Weston is a working farm - you may well hear bulls as well as birdsong and tractors cause mud!
The house is large, warm, comfortable and furnished mainly with antiques (except for the beds and sofas). Each of the south facing rooms offers stunning views of the garden and over the valley to the Broughton Hills and Tinto. The bedrooms are equipped with all mod cons, including superb beds (complete with electric blankets), hair dryers, radio alarms, free wi fi and a tea and coffee tray. Guests have use of the comfortable sitting room with woodburning stove, Freeview HD TV and a large supply of DVDs and CDs.
We are keen cooks and use our own produce whenever possible. As well as breakfast featuring our own sausages and eggs (vegetarians also welcome), we are happy to provide light meals and three course dinners on request. All meals are taken at the big refectory table in the dining room.
As well as being a few miles from the Biggar-Broughton cycle route, our road gives direct access to some wonderful off road trails in the Pentlands and we are directly on the Biggar and Pentland Hills route and the Carnwath Circuit. See:
