A peaceful old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, quite close to cycle route 423, with comfortable rooms and all that a weary cyclist needs.
Upper Red House
Our historic house is at the end of a lane with modern comforts but still feels old. It was saved from dereliction 20 years ago (but there's more to do).
Three small towns - Raglan, Monmouth and Abergvenny - are quite close and plenty of places nearby for evening meals.
The house is surrounded by our organic farm, orchards and woods. Watch the peacocks and ponies with lovely views and wildlife all around.
Have a generous vegetarian breakfast in the old barn kitchen; and take packed lunches the next day (with 24 hours notice). Try the home-made jams and marmalade, honey from our bee and water from the spring. We get the heating from a biomass boiler and energy from the sun.
We don't go in for stars and awards, but live in as green a way as we can and hope you will do the same. Our guests arrive tired and leave happy and relaxed.
Please pay by cash or cheque. Booking essential. Arrival time after 4.30pm and departure about 10.00 am.
